Masca Teno. 53 mi Est. Riding the road from Mirador de Cherfe pass down to to Masca is one of the most dramatic descents weve ever done.
This beautiful little village may be somewhat difficult to reach but it is well worth the journey which takes you through deep ravines interlaced with lush green flora and winding roads with hairpin bends. Almost completely isolated from the rest of the island until the 1970s this beautiful village consists of little more than a church a few restaurants and a handful of old stone houses. It is home to a large community of endangered plants and endemic species.

Hike on a forest trail with panoramic views to Masca and the ridges of Teno mountains between the peaks of Gala in the Teno Mountains. There is no truth to the popular myth that the village was once home to pirates. Nowadays the village is part of the municipality of Buenavista del Norte and its home to around 90 people who still choose to live here.
